This 10-day adventure offers the best of both worlds: a challenging trek to the summit of Mount Meru and an unforgettable safari through Tanzania’s famous national parks. Ideal for nature loversand adventure seekers, this combo provides a blend of hiking, wildlife viewing, and cultural experiences.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Arrive in Arusha, where you will be met by our team and transferred to your lodge. The day is yours to relax and prepare for the exciting adventure ahead. In the evening, enjoy a briefing about the upcoming Mount Meru climb and safari.

Mount Meru Trek: Days 2-5

Day 2: Arusha to Miriakamba Hut (Elevation: 1,400m to 2,514m)
Your Mount Meru adventure begins as you depart from Arusha and drive to Arusha National Park. After completing park formalities at Momella Gate, your trek starts. The trail passes through dense forest and offers the chance to spot wildlife such as giraffes, buffalo, and monkeys along the way. You’ll arrive at Miriakamba Hut for your first overnight stay on the mountain.

Day 3: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (Elevation: 2,514m to 3,570m)
Today’s hike takes you through beautiful forest landscapes and past giant heather plants as you ascend to Saddle Hut. The afternoon is spent relaxing and acclimatizing. For those with extra energy, an optional hike to Little Meru (3,820m) offers stunning views and a great acclimatization opportunity.

Day 4: Saddle Hut to Summit (4,566m), then Descent to Miriakamba Hut
An early start (around 2:00 AM) will take you to the summit of Mount Meru. The final push is challenging but rewarding, with panoramic views from the peak, including stunning vistas of Mount Kilimanjaro. After enjoying the sunrise at the summit, descend back to Saddle Hut for a short rest and then continue to Miriakamba Hut for the night.

Day 5: Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate, then Return to Arusha
The final leg of your Mount Meru trek takes you back down to Momella Gate, where you’ll be met by your driver and transferred back to Arusha. Spend the rest of the day resting and recovering from your trek at your lodge.

Safari Adventure: Days 6-10

Day 6: Tarangire National Park
Your safari journey begins as you head to Tarangire National Park. Known for its large elephant herds and picturesque baobab trees, Tarangire offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Spend the day on game drives, spotting a wide variety of animals, including lions, zebras, and wildebeests. Return to your lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park
Next, you’ll visit Lake Manyara National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions and pink flamingos along the shores of the lake. A full-day game drive will allow you to experience the

park’s diverse ecosystems, from groundwater forests to open savannah. Optional: Enjoy a canoeing safari on the lake (season and water level permitting). Overnight at a lodge near the park.

Day 8-9: Ngorongoro Crater
On Day 8, travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you’ll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater. Known as Africa’s Garden of Eden, the crater offers a chance to see the Big Five in a single day. Spend the next two days exploring the crater floor on game drives, marveling at the dense wildlife population. Optional: Take a crater rim walk for breathtaking views and additional wildlife sightings.

Day 10: Return to Arusha & Departure
After a morning of relaxation or an optional cultural visit to a nearby Maasai village, you will return to Arusha. Depending on your flight schedule, you can explore the town or head directly to the airport for your onward journey.
